Football Match in England Abandoned After Feces Found in Referee’s Shoe

A football match in England was abandoned after the referee discovered feces in his shoe during halftime, Daily Mail reports.

The incident took place on Saturday during a game between amateur sides Old Malton and Malt Shovel in the Premier Division of the York Football League.

In the first half, home team Old Malton scored early from a controversial penalty, but Malt Shovel equalized and went on to take a 2–1 lead. During the break, the referee found that someone had broken into his dressing room and defecated in one of his sneakers. Citing concerns for his safety, the referee called off the match.

The regional football association overseeing the York League has launched an investigation into the incident.
