Everton handed 10-point deduction
The football club Everton has been deducted 10 points due to financial fair play (FFP) rules violations. In other words, the club has been penalized for breaching profitability and sustainability regulations.
The reason behind this is exceeding the permitted losses over a 3-year period. Audits revealed a loss of £370 million, surpassing the allowed limit of £105 million.
The club has already released a statement declaring its innocence and intends to appeal the decision. However, at the moment, the points deduction has come into effect.
Interestingly, Everton is only the second Premier League club to face such a case; the last instance involved Manchester City. However, City was fortunate and did not face a points deduction.
