Haaland and Ronaldo
Erling Haaland’s Record-Breaking Path: Which All-Time Milestones Could Fall Next?

When it comes to scoring goals, Erling Haaland has already established himself as one of the most lethal strikers football has ever seen. At just 25 years old, the Norwegian is rewriting what it means to be a goalscorer at the highest level. From the Champions League to the Premier League, and even on the international stage, Haaland is not only chasing records — he is smashing them at a pace never seen before.

Champions League – Chasing Cristiano Ronaldo

In the opening match of this season’s Champions League, Haaland netted his 50th goal in the competition, becoming one of the youngest players ever to hit that mark. This milestone also catapulted him into the top 10 all-time scorers in the UCL.

Of course, the benchmark remains the extraordinary Cristiano Ronaldo, who holds the all-time record with 141 goals. While the gap looks immense, what makes Haaland’s pursuit fascinating is his unmatched scoring rate. Among the top 20 scorers in UCL history, he leads with an average of 1.02 goals per game, ahead of legends like Alfredo Di Stéfano (0.84). If Haaland continues anywhere close to his current pace, Ronaldo’s long-standing record might not be safe for much longer.

International Goals – Rivalling Ronaldo Again

Cristiano Ronaldo also stands atop the list of international goalscorers, with a staggering 141 goals for Portugal. But Haaland is emerging as a serious challenger. The Manchester City forward already has 48 goals in just 45 appearances for Norway—an average of 1.07 goals per game, nearly double Ronaldo’s rate of 0.63.

Given his age and efficiency, Haaland could realistically climb the international charts even if Norway doesn’t always feature in major tournaments. Friendly matches and qualifiers might be enough for him to close the gap and potentially take the crown from Ronaldo.

Premier League – The Alan Shearer Record in Sight

When Haaland arrived at Manchester City, questions swirled about whether he could adapt to the intensity of the Premier League. Two years in, those doubts are long gone. With 91 goals already, he has his sights set on Alan Shearer’s legendary record of 260 Premier League goals. If Haaland stays in England for the long term, it’s not a matter of if he breaks it, but when.

Another target is the record for Premier League hat-tricks. Currently held by Sergio Agüero with 12, Haaland is already at 8 trebles. Given his incredible scoring streak, surpassing Agüero seems almost inevitable.

A Unique Scoring Machine

What sets Haaland apart isn’t just his volume of goals, but his consistency across all competitions. Whether in Europe, domestic leagues, or international fixtures, his averages outstrip nearly every legendary forward in football history. Among the top 40 goalscorers across competitions, his ratio of 0.89 goals per game leads the pack, leaving even Harry Kane (0.67) behind.

Statistically, Haaland is already among the greatest. But considering his age and trajectory, he is on pace to redefine football’s record books entirely.
