Cristiano Ronaldo Opens Up About Playing With His Son
Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese forward currently playing for Al Nassr, has expressed his thoughts on possibly sharing the pitch with his son in a professional match. Inspired by NBA superstar LeBron James, who recently played alongside his son Bronny for the Los Angeles Lakers, Ronaldo addressed the topic during an interview with Canal 11.
When asked whether he envisions himself and his son playing together, Ronaldo responded:
"Yes, I would like that... But of course, I wouldn’t say it keeps me up at night. We'll see. It’s more in his hands than in mine. I don’t consider it an obsession. He will follow his own path. I will be proud of him no matter what he decides to do. If he plays football — great. If not, at least we tried. At the very least, his father gave it his all."
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. is currently 14 years old. He has already trained in youth academies, following in his father's footsteps. While many young players dream of making it to the professional level, the expectations surrounding Ronaldo Jr. are immense due to his father’s legacy.
LeBron James made history in October last year by officially playing in an NBA game alongside his son, marking the first time in league history that a father and son have competed together. If Ronaldo Jr. continues his development and reaches the professional stage, a similar milestone could be achieved in football.
Whether or not the football world will witness Ronaldo and his son sharing the pitch remains uncertain. Still, the idea certainly adds another layer to the discussion about footballing legacies and the influence of sporting dynasties.
