Carragher Predicts Final Standings for Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man City After Etihad Showdown
In the wake of Arsenal's dramatic 2-2 draw against Manchester City on September 22 at the Etihad Stadium, Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher shared his insights on the ongoing Premier League title race.
Despite Arsenal's challenging second half with only ten players, they managed to hold onto a 2-1 lead until the final moments, when John Stones equalized for City. Currently, Manchester City leads the league with 13 points from five matches, followed closely by Liverpool with 12 points. In comparison, Arsenal sits in fourth place with 11 points. Aston Villa occupies the third position, also with 12 points.
Reflecting on the title competition, Carragher suggested that Liverpool might find themselves in a position similar to last season, trailing slightly behind City and Arsenal. He indicated that while Liverpool could be poised for a significant improvement next season, they have yet to make substantial additions to their squad.
Carragher noted that the current squad resembles last year’s team and reiterated his belief that Liverpool remains the third-best team in the league. He admired both teams showcased during the match but maintained that Manchester City possesses a slight advantage.
As he analyzed the squads' attacking capabilities, he pointed out that the absence of Kevin De Bruyne highlighted City's depth of offensive talent. Ultimately, Carragher concluded that Manchester City holds a marginal edge in the title race, making them formidable contenders as the season unfolds.
