Candidates to Replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid Revealed
Former Real Madrid players Santiago Solari, Raúl, and Álvaro Arbeloa are the main candidates to take over as interim head coach of the club, ESPN reports. Their potential appointment comes amid speculation that current manager Carlo Ancelotti could soon leave the team.
Solari is currently serving as Real Madrid's director, Raúl is coaching the club’s reserve team Castilla, and Arbeloa is in charge of the U19 squad. According to the report, one of the three is expected to lead the team during the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on June 15 in the United States.
Earlier reports indicated that Ancelotti would step down after the end of the La Liga season. The Italian coach is widely expected to take over the Brazilian national team afterward. Meanwhile, media sources have named former Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, as another candidate for the Real Madrid job.
Ancelotti, 65, has been managing Real Madrid since 2021, having previously led the club from 2013 to 2015. Under his leadership, Real Madrid have won the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup three times each, and secured two titles each in La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, as well as an Intercontinental Cup.
