Best talent in a year or Best player in a year ?

Beginning to agree that, here I would not say that Messi does
not deserve the award or Ronaldo are not qualified Because we are not in the
usual controversy that has nothing to do with objectivity on who is better
Messi or Ronaldo. As I do not care about this title as much as I would like to
discuss: What are the criteria to become the best player in the world for the
year?

To answer this question let's take a look at Iniesta, firstly Iniesta
won the 2010 World Cup and scored the goal of the tournament, the goal of the
crowning, another image that always stuck in minds. Despite that he lost the
best player title to messi who lost 4-0 to Germany and was knocked from the
quarter finals. Again Iniesta won the Euro championship for the 2nd
time in a row but still messi gets the best player title. So what does a player
do more than to win the Euros and then the World Cup and then the euro again
and be in the best club in the world and appears perfectly to win the prize.

This extraordinary generation of Spanish football often
will end and there is no player in this generation holds the award for best
player despite the presence of Casillas and Xavi Hernandez and certainly
Iniesta, so Messi  is the reason.

 Is the reason
that Messi is a great player on an individual level? Is an exceptional striker
scored 91 goals in 2012 and is record holder in terms of goals in surpassing
Gerard Muller 85. Perhaps, but Without the 9 goals that Iniesta assisted to
messi in 2012, Messi wouldnt  have broken
the Gerard Muller record. Also without the possession that iniesta creates, Messi
 task
won't be easier in scoring goals.

Again I do not mean that Messi didnnt  deserve it, but Iniesta's role is as important
as Lionel .. As both are partners in the success of Barcelona and one of them
excel at the international level, so why not to win the best player award.

Those in the FIFA don't care about anything but the star
of the show, they have no prize to the best supporting role and will not see
the Joker as a hero in the presence of Batman.

Those gave the award for Zidane in 2003 and Thierry  Henry was the rightful one for it , and did
not put Schneider in their accounts in 2010, although he won the treble, club
world cup and reached the world cup finals and was the top scorer along with Villa
and Muller. They also Ignored Pirlo and Drogba and Philipp Lahm in the dream
team for 2012, although Dani Alves was injured most of the year and Falcao
championships do not compare with Drogba uefa champions league title and Alonso
was not good as Pirlo

What I would like to say, that the controversy over the
award prize is better to stop, simply because of the FIFA rules that permits
only the passions of the coaches and national team captains to declare the
winner, and that means Uncontrolled rules. Controlled rules were found somewhat
when the specialized newspaper" the France Football" submitted the
award  and brought players like Nedved
and Owen and Shevchenko for the title, but now FIFA completely dominated the
award.

And in FIFA manner, we will continue to see the prize
in the hands of "the best talent present " and not "the best
player of the year"

Don't forget that Messi doesn't just score.

2008/2009: 38 goals, 18 assists
2009/2010: 47 goals, 11 assists
2010/2011: 53 goals, 24 assists
2011/2012: 73 goals, 29 assists
2012/2013: 34 goals, 6 assists (thus far)

This is without highlighting the amount of key passes he produces to open up goal-scoring opportunities.

I agree that Iniesta doesn't get enough praise for what he achieves, but neither does Xavi, nor Pirlo. Are any of those players as good as Messi? Can any of them do what he does? Can anyone on the planet?

The simple fact is: no, they can't. No-one could. That's because Messi is the best player in the world.

Don't forget that Spain winning their tournaments has been the cream of Barca and Real combined, minus only Messi and Ronaldo. That's a magnificent team, even without the two best in the world, and let's not forget that Holland were not exactly great, really. Sure Sneijder was the heartbeat of that team, but, that's like saying Gerrard is the heartbeat of Liverpool. Anyone reckon Gerrard is the best player in the PL? Hell, even iif England won the next world cup, and Lampard got 5 goals in the tournament, including the winning goal in the final, would anyone say that Lampard was the best player in the world?

Messi has had more assists in every single one of the last 5 years than most strikers have had goals.

Iniesta is magnificent. Ronaldo is breathtaking. Sneijder was heroic.

But none of them were Messi.

Well, Gerd Muller scored 85 goals in 1970, without winning any major trophy and he still won the European footballer of the year trophy (wasn't called Ballon d'Or at the time). The award is more based on individual skill rather then what you achieved in that year. None the less, the award and XI is for the "best" players of the year, not the players who achieved the most

I thought this award was mostly judged in individual skill and acomplishments, not what the entire team acomplished.

what i mean is if he is gonna base it on trophies then torres should be in fifpro not drogba or falcao. drogba and torres has same amount of goals i think last year but torres has more assits than drogba and plus he scored 3 goals in euro 12 despite playing limited minutes. lets be honest messi desrved the fifa ballon d'or award but the fifpro 11 is bs 3-4 players shouldnt be there alves, pique, marcelo and xabi alonso
