Why take out Vinicius Junior and bring on useless Bale is beyond me. He was a threat the whole match. Well done to City though after losing their best defender early on and conceding a goal through a mistake and they still came back in the end. I have no love for Ramos but that was the softest red card I have ever seen. Jesus and KDB are my MOFM.

A cheap penalty and a cheap red card... one of the more cynical comebacks I’ve seen. The penalty was correct even if Sterling was looking for the contact. Carvajal just did very poorly with the challenge. The red card was correct ONLY if the free kick is regarded as correct. In my opinion there was no free kick because Jesus just fell too easily. But since the ref decided it was a free kick, he made it impossible for himself to not give a red card as Ramos was the last defender.

Penalty correct, but not the free kick.

To those claiming the red card was wrong: Nope. Ramos made contact. If they were going shoulder to shoulder, or any time of even defender vs. attacker situation - Then the principles of 'semi contact sport', 'man's sport', apply and a certain amount of contact is allowed. If Jesus is ahead of Ramos, clear on goal, the only legal way for Ramos to pressurize him is to try to overtake him, or approach him WITHOUT his hand extended to grab, with the clear intention of putting him off, let alone foot tripping, both of which occurred. So even if he just lay his hand gently on him, in that situation it's a foul.

Severity of contact is irrelevant... Jesus went down easy, sure, had he not gone down he would have missed and Ramos would have gotten away with another dirty move.

i don't think Real Madrid where poor, if anything, this game was supposed to end a draw. just reckless challenge from Carvajal.. but that red card was just too soft. was not necessary.

this game had nothing to do with Gaurdiolas brilliance or tactics.just one of those boring games that went the way of one team.
KDB was briilant, MOTM
VINICUS on the other end was the attacking threat for real.and should have played on.

if we had a lethal/formidable striker, I would have suggested a 4-2-3-1 formation for the 2nd leg... but Benz plays too deep and can't take on defenders. he is not that strong.

this is where its crucial... underestimating Madrid's strength in return leg.

don't get these petty "cheap red card" argument.. jesus was through on goal.. at that speed ANY contact would've taken him out.. ramos should've used his brain

lol Cristiano Ronaldo would of scored at least 2 goals oh man it is not Real Madrid without CR7. I don't even feel the el clasico matches anymore without CR7 in RM. Pep is used to Real Madrid but he had an easier job knowing that Cristiano isn't there anymore.

@JustFontaine Don't compare Real Madrid Cristiano with us. He has way more chemistry with Real Madrid players than our players. You know nothing about Cristiano. He played 100000 times better with Real Madrid players around him because he knows 90% of of them for more than a decade. He freshly joined us a couple years ago he still needs to develop the chemistry even though he's doing great in terms of scoring and assisting. You don't know what it means to play with a team for a decade VS playing with a team for a couple of years.

Mancity, the real football team. Manutd would have keep diving, not getting red card for ridiculous tackle and pressure the ref.

Huge performance of KDB and GJ and one of the worst by Ramos in UCL lost his man on the first goal and a red card ...Karma maybe. Vinicus Jr was the only danger for Pep's team.

Somewhere, Mohammed Salah and Liverpool fans are grinning as the ref orders Ramos out of the pitch in a walk of shame. This result could not happened to a better cheating corrupt club but the red card also went to a player that is universally despised. All in all, good night for football fans.

Looks like you have selective memory. Don't you remember your fans kicking black guys off trains or abusing sterling ? Having black players doesn't disregard your fans are racist scum!

And labelling an entire fan base as racist is dumb as shit. I can easily bet Real Madrid has as many racist fans as any other club if not more so stop being a hypocrite and stop using racism to score points.

What a stupid thing to say. Using that logic you can't call Madrid a corrupt club because the Franco era was decades ago which is irrelevant so how exactly are we a cheating club? Jealousy when we are the most successful club in Europe. Oh and Madrid fans are far from as racist as Chelsea fans. Those English hooligans are the most racist idiots you'll ever see

Like I said, I find Spaniards to be insufferably fools. Oh yeah, lets paint the whole fan base as racist even though it was a bigoted action of a few, matter of fact, lets label the whole club as racist as well. *Sigh*. What a moron !

De Bruyne brilliance. He was fabulous tonight. Im still kinda questioning why Zidane took off Vinicius for Bale, that was probably the worst decision here. Personally I felt like the red on ramos was harsh but then again, he was the last man but even still that was pretty soft in my opinion. This will be really difficult for madrid in the 2nd leg. Exciting tie
