Match facts

Chelsea

  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 16 clashes with Spanish sides in the Champions League (W6 D10), with their last defeat coming against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in February 2006.
  • The Blues are unbeaten against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League (W1 D2); having met in the 2009/10 Group Stages before their 0-0 draw in the first leg of this tie.
  • Chelsea have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League for the seventh time since 2003/04, the joint-highest tally with Barcelona in that time.
  • Chelsea managed just five shots (inc. blocked) in the first leg. They have only attempted fewer in one CL game this season (one v Basle on 26/11/2013).

Atletico Madrid

  • Atletico is the only side still unbeaten in this years Champions League campaign.
  • Atletico have travelled to England nine times previously in European competition, winning only once (at Leicester City in September 1997, D4 L4).
  • Atletico Madrid have reached the semi-finals of the European Cup/Champions League for the first time since 1974 when they eventually lost in the final against Bayern Munich after a replay.
  • Diego Simeones men have won nine straight matches in the Spanish top flight in what has been a superb campaign and remain favourites to dethrone reigning champions Barcelona.

Predictions

Chelsea secured a commendable draw at the Vicente Calderón last week and after the 2-0 win over Liverpool, will be looking to continue this momentum with the welcome of Atlético. José Mourinho lost just 1 of his 9 meetings with Los Rojiblancos during his time as Real Madrid boss and has the ability to add to this record at Stamford Bridge.

Like the Blues, Atlético secured an impressive win at the weekend, cementing their place at the summit of La Liga. Diego Simeone's side have conceded just 5 times in the Champions League this season, though 3 of those have come away from home.

Chelsea have the European experience to progress, but Atlético have enough about them to shut out the Premier League side and secure at least a draw.

"never sell the bear's skin before one has killed the beast" yesterday on the real vs bayern highlights i have seen so much chelsea's fan bragging about the final between their team and real. But what now? You should have been more patient before shouting everywhere "chelsea will win tomorrow, it's already in the pocket" Ha ha ha. Rubbish fans.

All team that have reach Semis and Final are amazing and strong. The difference is minimal.Stronger mentality / focus gives the better team the edge, not individual players.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid have an average possessions of 51% in the CL this year, and Atletico Madrid have only 45%. It's all on SkySports lads. It's nothing but the truth. And it was also pointed out on SkySportNews, that we had more possessions away at the Calderon Stadium than Real Madrid had at home to Bayern Munich when they won 1-0. Yet the other 2, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are known as more of an attacking team. HAHAHAHAHHAH People are truly jealous and bitter of Chelsea success and they are desperately trying everything to tarnish Chelsea success. God help those bitter jealous miserable people

And yet another arrogant chelsea fan. Men i've never seen so much sh*t supporters for a single club.

I believe Chelsea will be in the final just because of MO tactic. Unless AM play a balance game and do not attack foolishly.
